Do you know about new energy power battery pack thermal silicone pad TP-P20 9/25/2017
Today we share a case of new energy power battery pack thermal management project.

 

We know that power battery pack is the power source of new energy vehicles, while working, generated heat will cause an explosion or burning if not distributed properly, so the thermal management of the battery pack is extremely important.

 

Now most of the battery pack design thermal interface material is thermal silicone pad, except for thermal conductivity and thermal impedance, voltage resistance and thickness is also important properties for new energy battery pack thermal interface material. Following we share our customer case.

 

We have a customer project which thermal silicone pad is applied on new energy rail traffic power battery pack, thermal silicone pad is being filled the gap between power battery pack and shell gap, and installed heat sink. Maybe customer isn’t very familiar with thermal silicone pad, so they have particularly emphasis the use of electrical environment, and withstand voltage must above 5kV. In fact, thermal insulation silicone pad has very good voltage resistance and electrical insulation performance, breakdown voltage is above 10kV / mm or more, and customer required thickness is more than 1mm, so, there will be no problems on withstand voltage.

 

Customers saw BAISONTECH TP-P20 power battery pack thermal conductive silicone pad thickness is 0.3-5.0mm, and asked if we can make his requested 8.5mm thickness. Actually the listed parameters is common used and just for reference, in practical applications we have ever made 11.0mm thickness of TP-P20, but too thick thickness will affect thermal conduct performance. Customers understand and re-consider design and try a thin interface.

 

Customer's power battery pack thermal insulation silicone pad application will be placed vertically, so he asked if any adhesive needed to prevent the power battery pack thermal insulation silicone pad off. We truthfully tell customers, adhesive will increase thermal resistance, and reduce thermal conductivity, we do not recommend to use, because the power battery pack thermal conductive silicone pad TP-P20 has double-sided self-adhesive, and battery pack and shell play a role in reinforcement, so no need to another adhesive.

 

Customer understand well our thermal insulation silicone pad TP-P20 and placed a small trial order to test. After one week testing, we got good news that our TP-P20 performs very good on customer thermal management project. Now we are awaiting for customers mass production order.
